Festival of Flight - Newcastle
Pictured are the displays and events held along the sea front throughout the festivals final day and the closing Red Arrows display.
Festival to mark the centenary of the first official powered flight in Ireland, made in 1910 over the sands of Newcastle, Co Down by Harry Ferguson. Although he perhaps best known for the invention of the modern farm tractor, Harry Ferguson was also an important pioneer of aviation. This element of Ferguson’s life will be recognised and celebrated by the week long Festival of Flight boasting over 40 events, concluding with a dramatic display by the Red Arrows.
